I just finished writing a novel using two AI platforms, CoPilot and Gemini. It was like having an editor sitting on one of my shoulders and a librarian sitting on the other. The book is better because of AI, and in the process, I'm a better writer.
We can't freeze technology. AI isn't going away and needs to be embraced.
I once had the honor of making a commencement speech to a high school class of seniors. I encouraged them to figure our what they do, not what they have, that makes them happy. With any luck they'll be able to do whatever that may be well enough to make a living. Happily ever after. One thing for sure, I have no idea how to make a living built around AI.
In S.C., we call people like Ms. Caulfield (mainly because we are overrun with them) tone-deaf assholes. I would have preferred to have used the “C” word, but I’ve been told the use of such a description is unbecoming of a 74 year-old grandmother. But you get the idea.
Great story, Bob - if you don't mind, I'm going to use it (with attribution, of course) on MorningNewsBeat this week. I think there's lot to worry about, despite the techlash taking place in America. The mendacious, avaricious oligarchs and tech bros won't take the hint and create more responsible platforms, but rather will double down. Because that's what they do.
Reminds me a bit of my son's graduation from The Cooper Union years ago when the senior class rose and turned their backs on then mayor Bloomberg during his commencement address.
They did not! There was less animus in those days before Bezos, and his ilk had so thoroughly disgusted the idealistic (though not naive) graduating classes around NYC!
And Bloomberg was merely a successful promotor of Capitalism in the far less cynical pre-Trump era. Today, Bezos would receive a far less polite reception.
Tell it! A bot must have booked that Bezo bozzo
Love me some bot alliteration …
An acquaintance of mine was there. She said in person, it was even more brutal.
Who at UCF thought this was a good idea?
And I’m wondering if she got paid an honorarium…

To be continued…

But you can still go snook fishing, eh?

And by "C" word you mean cretin or crackpot, yes?
Bless your heart.
And we all know what that really means.
😁

Yes, spread it around. Like fertilizer… thanks for reading, mon
This is why I don't worry as much about AI as many would have us do. People will keep it under control.
From your mouth to AI’s digital ear. I hope so too
