I got a Royals spring training special section from the Fort in the mail yesterday. All hands on deck. Chuck Roames, John “Gibby” Gibson, Joe Arace, John Small, Bill Chronister, Larry Meyer and Ken Picking! Only missing byline: Bill Miller.
My comments are biased, as I am the second of Bud’s 7 siblings. Bud is the best of the eight of us. He has lived a brilliant life, made more friends than all of us put together, and used his linguistic gifts to make us think, learn, and laugh. His courage inspires me every day to be more patient and less lazy. His joints have bedeviled him, but he has the heart of a saint.
Like a June bride, Bob. Claire -- that's Dr. Claire, former head of the Faculty Senate at her institution of higher learning -- is formidable. She's the family conscience. Also, a new grandmama.
It’s truly amazing to observe this “thing” called your body slowly but surely disintegrate. You see it happen to others but somehow convince yourself you are somehow immune—
Oh the”joy” of the conditions ending in –Osis and –Itis. No one really warns you about the body conditions after 60! I’m with you Bud—here’s to oceans of wine and good ole medical marijuana!
quite inspirational in a funky sort of of way "70. A speed limit age Geezerhood's entry level" Hell. I look back at 55 (23 years ago) and wonder where it all went by so fast and he quotes' Buffet..Bud !! I hope ya live to be 100
Well Bob all I can say is I've been road hard and put up wet more than once!1 LMAO!! Math was never my strong suit.. That would make me 78..(73 this year) Not quite ready to join the octogenarian club, have my DR. get me an extra large prescription to the little blue pill and move my horny ass to the Villages
Terrific piece. Having turned 70 late last year, I found this to be an eye-opener. And an illuminator - I confess I had to look up "kyphosis." Thanks for sharing this. "Glad to be here" will never sound the same again.
Proud of you, Lorenzo. Nobody like you. Anne’s “Pre-existing Condition.” Too good, my long-time bud.

Bud/Larry/Lorenzo: You’re whipping life’s ass like no one else I’ve ever known. Soldier on, see you at 90.
If that’s the case, I’ll be looking up to you (as always), Keith.

Claire — How nice to reconnect with you here. And by all rights your comments are biased. The heart of a saint? Also, a lion. Bud… are you blushing?

I’m glad to be here…I just turned 69…I won’t share my list…just…I’m glad to be here. Thanks, Bob! ☺️
And we're glad you're here too, Lynn. Thanks for reading. Keep punching ...
Will do!

Until you’re not.
But it is great to be here:)
I think I've moved past the "slowly but surely" and into "tumbling down the hill without any control at all." But yeah, still great to be here.
Fantastic read from one heck of a great writer!!

Great writing from two of the best from the News-Press. Bud, incredibly inspirational, wine vs. whine. But one question: red or white?
Good to hear! Just avoid that Lou Brancaccio cocktail — Pepsi in a dirty glass.
Druck: Both! (Full disclosure: months after first writing this, Anne and I took a break from booze. It’s done wonders.)

How could I not mention Jimmy Buffet?
Since when did you get to be so much older than me?

I needed to read that. Thank you, Bob.
Thank Bud, not me. He did my work for me today …
Larry Bud you are my hero!
Wait, wait, wait … I thought I was your hero, baby.
Wonderful writing wonderful to read - thanks for the Bud !
You're still welcome to call me Lorenzo, Steve.

Yeah, I had to look that up too. And I’m trying to figure out a way to drop it into casual conversation. Keep punching, dewd …
