You forgot Bob(by) Mercer.It was my first Major League game,Yankees at home in 1978.(the Twins in Spring don’t count).No foul balls were hit until Mercer hit one above third.I caught it in front of the NBC camera -the first foul I saw I caught.
For a time when The Newhart Show, or Newhart -- I always get them mixed up -- was at the top of its popularity arc, we fans would greet one another by throwing the right hand up casually, then dropping it and saying "Hi, Bob" because that is what they did on the show.
You may recall my father was known as Bob although his real name was Robert Marion. The Marion being from his mother’s South Carolina roots, General Francis Marion. So he may not be true Bob.
